Hey, hello, howdy! Have you ever heard of being either a “Type A Mom” or a “Type B Mom”? It is quite interesting to see which one you fall more towards. I have never really given this much of a thought but I have seen it come up quite frequently on Social Media lately, but they aren’t just talking about Types A and B…. There is this trend going around talking about a “Type C Mom”. Do you know which type you identify as? Yeah, I didn’t either!
Type A Mom’s are known for being organized and perfectionistic. They are always prepared such as always carrying snacks and extra clothes. They are highly organized. They are goal-oriented and they strive for perfection. A Type A Mom is easily stressed by things that don’t go as planned. Some examples are having a strict schedule and sticking to it, striving for a perfectly clean house, and feeling the need to have a plan for every event. At first, I definitely thought I was a Type A Mom, but then I was reading about a Type B Mom and gave it a bit more thought.
Type B Mom’s are known for being laid-back, flexible and relaxed. They have more of a casual approach to parenting and have a more go with the flow attitude. They are more relaxed and easy-going and also flexible and adaptable. I am the farthest thing from being adaptable, I really like plans and knowing what is about to happen so I thought this type of mom was not me, until I read into it more. I started thinking…. I like to be organized and feeling like I am perfect, but if you see my house on any given day, I am far from that.
It’s quite funny that this trend of a Type C Mom has seen circling social media right when I had my second child. I really can relate to it! They say that a Type C Mom is one who blends organization and structure with flexibility. It is a real world balance. Type C Moms are ones who are organized but not obsessive. They make sure to prioritize well-being. And they empower their children by encouraging independence play and allowing them to learn from their mistakes. For example, they are very organized by having different boxes stored by size and season for their children’s old clothes, but yet, there are dirty diapers piled up by the changing table. They make sure to make their bed and kids beds every morning, but yet, their car is a complete mess. They have scheduled events throughout the day (lunch at 12, nap at 1, snack at 3, etc) but yet, if the table is dirty then they have lunch outside that day. They make sure the laundry is done and folded, but yet it stays out on top of the dresser waiting to be put away for days (THAT’S ME!). Even though I am more of a Type A Mom than a Type B Mom, I would say that I am mostly a Type C Mom. I would also argue that every mom is as well…. That is just life 🤷🏼♀️
(I also want to say that this also applies to dads. Not just moms. Dads don’t get as much recognition as Moms do and I think that should change. It’s just that women seem to talk about these things more than men do.)
Ok, that’s all. Peace ✌️
